Meghan Markle Sets a Key Condition for Prince Harry’s Potential UK Return
Meghan Markle has reportedly set a significant condition for Prince Harry as a prerequisite for their potential return to the United Kingdom. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who moved to California in 2020 after stepping down from their royal duties, have rarely visited the UK since their departure.
According to royal expert Tom Quinn, Meghan’s return is contingent on securing a permanent residence in the UK with the necessary security arrangements.
Markle's last visit to the UK was in 2022 for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. However, since the couple vacated Frogmore Cottage, their UK home, they currently have no permanent residence in Britain. Quinn stated, “Meghan has said she’s only prepared to return to England if she and Harry have a place of their own and the security they both feel is essential. Meghan will never return to the UK and stay with her husband’s relatives.”
The issue of security has been a contentious one for the couple. After stepping back from royal duties, they were stripped of their taxpayer-funded police protection.
Recently, Prince Harry won the right to appeal a High Court decision regarding the adequacy of his family’s security in the UK, further emphasizing the importance of this issue to the Sussexes.
Quinn also suggested that if the couple can secure a permanent home and resolve the security concerns, they would likely want to bring their children, Archie and Lilibet, to the UK.
However, doing so would require significant diplomatic efforts to rebuild relationships within the royal family, particularly between their children and their cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Meghan’s condition highlights the challenges the couple faces in balancing their life in the US with their connections to the UK and the royal family. Whether they can navigate these challenges remains to be seen. click this link
